A construction worker Emid aka Husni, 57, was crushed to death when a segment of a wall at a market construction site, in Batununggal housing complex in Bandung, West Java, collapsed on Saturday morning.
According to Odik, an overseer at the site, the victim was walking out side near the construction entrance when a p fell from the third story and hit him.
“The wall was not yet finished. We were about to cement the segment, somebody probably accidentally nudged it,” he told tempointeraktif.com while waiting the autopsy of the victims body at Hasan Sadikin Hospital.
A hospital official said that the 2 x 2 meters segment caused severe injury on the victims head. The victim also had cut wounds on his forehead and left eye, and also broken nose.
Emid is a resident of Pasirrandu village in Cinta Asih hamlet, Cipongkor district, West Bandung. He had been working at the site for six months.
East Bandung Police head Adj. Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said that they were investigating the case and questioning witnesses.
“Our temporary conclusion is that it was purely an accident,” he said. (dre)
