TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The National Empowerment Program for People’s Self-Sufficiency (PNPMM) launched by the Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare does not suit the the characteristics of villagers. “It’s too bureaucratic,” said Nunung Nuryantoro, deputy director of the International Center for Applied Finance and Economics at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), yesterday. She thinks the target is unclear and its implementation lacks supervision.
The allocation for this national program in 2009 is Rp 11,01 trillion. About 40 million workers are expected to be covered by this program. In 2008, the program claimed to have opened job opportunities for 43,2 million people.
