JAKARTA: The rehabilitation of 278 damaged buildings in Thousand Islands regency after a tropical storm early this year is near completion, Antara reported Monday.
Regent Djoko Ramadhan said 60 percent of the work had been completed in 20 days.
"The reconstruction will all be complete next week," he said at City Hall.
Djoko said the rehabilitation work received support from private companies donating building materials.
"The donations cover three-fourths of the total needed building materials," he said.
The private companies also lent the regency 20 construction workers to expedite rehabilitation, he added.
The storm on Jan. 5 damaged residents' houses in Kelapa and Harapan islets and uprooted several electricity poles and trees.
